A price has now been put on the Master Mariner in New Brighton, a Wetherspoons pub that has become the target of controversy after the pub chain pulled out of plans for a £3m revamp. In April the pub confirmed they would be selling the land branded an "eyesore" by locals, including the site of the former Lacy's Bar, demolished as part of their initial plans.
Angela Eagle, MP for Wallasey, called the decision to pull out "incredibly frustrating" saying the pub has been left in a "far worse off" position than before. The pub, and adjacent land,has now been listed with an auctioneers, with a guiding price of £300,000 to £350,000.

Tim Edwards, the dad of Elle Edwards, 26 who was shot dead after a gunman opened fire at the Lighthouse Pub in Wallasey on Christmas Eve, has shared how he has prepared before the trial of the man accused of his daughter's murder. Tim spoke as after he took part in a long trek in support of the Weapons Down Gloves Up initiative, saying it has "all been about Elle."
Couple asleep in bed wake to see three men stood over them with knives
Thugs broke into a house and threatened a couple with knives as they lay in bed. Police received reports that three men broke into a house at about 5am, waking a sleeping couple up and threatening them with knives.
The three men then fled the scene, with police believing it to be a case of false identity."
