Our Liverpool: Everything you need to know ahead of the Grand National

Hello and welcome to Our Liverpool.

We're just under 24 hours away from the opening of the Grand National Festival 2023 and the excitement is palpable. We'll be on the ground throughout the whole festival, bringing you the news as it comes in and making sure you're filled in on all the style and merriment of the three days.

Woman found guilty of murdering partner

Elsewhere in the news, Joanne Moran killed her partner by stabbing him in the heart in the early hours of the morning last October after the pair had been up playing cards and drinking in their home, which they had shared for about four years. She was unanimously found guilty of his murder this afternoon.

Midwife escapes punishment after faking work logs

A midwife who falsely claimed she had completed hundreds of hours of work has escaped punishment. Ellen Burke claimed to have completed 450 hours of registered midwifery practice over three years before it became apparent this wasn't the case and it was investigated by the Nursing and Midwifery Council.

Norris Green dad flooded UK with drugs with help from Columbia and Brazil

A dad used an international network of criminal contacts to flood the UK with tens of millions of pounds of drugs. Graham Minards, from Norris Green, used the Encrochat name "Calm Tea" as he traded over 1,300kg of class A drugs.

The dad also said he had "lads who blow any c***'s head off" in order to fend off threats as he fell into substantial debt. He is due to be sentenced on Friday.
