Good morning Liverpool and happy Friday.
I don't know about you but I am ready for spring - and that's from someone who suffers from hayfever. We may me waiting a little while yet however, with our old friend 'The Beast of the East' set to make a return.
We've had some great content from the ECHO team this week that will continue into the weekend. Some highlights for me were the great nostalgia pieces and the aftermath of our investigation into parking ticket-dodging councillors. I also enjoyed writing a community-focused piece on St John's Road in Waterloo, where shopping local is breathing new life into the area.
Lost Liverpool
Our nostalgia reporter Jess Molyneux has been really busy this week, warming our hearts with pieces about the city in days gone by. One article that stuck out for me was about lost factories. Liverpool was once a huge manufacturing hub and some names jumped out for me personally; my dad worked at Dunlops in the 80s and my aunty worked at Ogdens when she was a teenager. A great image-led piece of Goodison Park in the 60s and 70s was also published this morning. Can blues spot any of their relatives?
Eye of the tiger
Chester Zoo has welcomed a pair of new additions - two extremely rare tiger cubs. A hidden camera caught the moment the twins entered the world. They're the first cubs of mum Kasarna and dad Dash. Sumatran tigers are critically endangered, with less than 350 of the species living in the wild.
