If you've been looking to buy a Shark vacuum to deep clean dust and pet hair from your home, one of our favorite cordless models of all time, the Shark Vertex, is now at its lowest price ever for President's Day.
I'm Homes & Gardens' home tech editor and I test and review vacuums on a daily basis. The Shark Vertex has topped our best Dyson alternatives guide for some time now, thanks to its impressive cleaning performance on all surfaces (and pet hair!) for a fraction of the cost of a premium Dyson vacuum.
And now, whilst looking for the best Presidents' day home sales, I've seen that the vacuum's price is even lower thanks to a $180 discount at Shark, taking off almost half the cost. It's a President's Day special deal, so make sure to grab it before it's gone – and from all the vacuum deals I'm seeing this year, this one might be the best if you're in the market for a new cordless.
Why you should buy the Shark Vertex Pro
The Shark Vertex has topped our list of the best Dyson alternatives for over a year. It boasts many of the features we love from the best Dyson vacuums: strong performance on all floors, great pet hair pickup, powerful suction in a lightweight model, and a design that lends itself well as a multi-surface vacuum.
On test, we found deep carpet cleaning and thorough hard floor cleaning, and you can toggle between carpet and hard floor suction modes for the right treatment across these different floor types. It's not as intuitive as the Dysons' automatic floor detection, but it's a small sacrifice considering it saves you $100s in comparison.
A feature that you won't find in other vacuums however is its fold-ability. You can fold the Vertex in half for easy vacuum storage and it can stand up on its own, taking up barely any space in your home.
This also means you can bend the vacuum at the wand to easily vacuum under furniture, which is one of the hardest cleaning tasks to do without straining your back.
What's great is that the Shark Vertex's dual-brushroll design allows you to pass from hard floors to carpets without having to swap out for a different floorhead. This design also ensures you're capturing large debris and hair with the bristled brushroll and super-fine particles like dust, dander and other common household allergens with the soft brushroll.
This model is actually the Shark Vertex Hair Pro, so you can look forward to finally vacuuming pet hair the right way from carpets and furniture which, from our 65 vacuum tests and conversations with pet owners, is the single most common issue we've found.
The nimble, lightweight vacuum can last up to 60 minutes on a single charge (and if you purchase an additional Shark battery this can go up to 120 minutes). It also has tight HEPA filtration (important if you're looking for a vacuum for allergies), as well as washable pre-motor filters.
