Ever since its initial debut, the Lily Collins-led Netflix show Emily in Paris has been filling the Patricia Field-shaped fashion hole left by Sex and the City when it ended in the mid-2000s. From Chanel, to Ganni, to Schiaparelli, it’s our go-to for style lusting - even down to the characters’ jewellery.
One brand that’s often seen in the show is Ottoman Hands. Worn by Emily (Lily Collins) and Mindy (Ashley Park), it’s a sustainable and handmade jewellery company which has also been adorned in shows such as Game of Thrones, House of the Dragon, and Sex Education.
Founded by designer Deniz Gurdal in London, Ottoman Hands is a female-owned independent business that launched in 2010. All of its jewellery is handcrafted with gold-plated recycled metals by artisans in the jewellery quarter of the Grand Bazaar in Istanbul, Turkey. So you know each purchase is something special.
The brand’s signature evil eye collection has featured in Emily in Paris, along with several of its gold-plated earrings and necklaces. Ottoman Hands’ newest range even has a regal touch, as it’s been created in collaboration with Turquoise Mountain, a foundation established by King Charles III in 2006 to revive historic areas and traditional crafts around the world.
This particular collaboration has seen Ottoman Hands create a capsule collection of Afghan-inspired jewellery all set with lapis lazuli, a gemstone found in Afghanistan. We’ve chosen some of our favourite pieces from both old and new collections, below.
