Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza to return after two-year pandemic absence

The Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza will return in September this year.

An annual vintage car show, the extravaganza was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, but it is back this year. It will be held on September 11.

There will be more than 500 vehicles on display, from small push bikes to steam engines. Fairground Organs, vintage and classic cars, military vehicles, motorcycles, tractors and more are all expected to be present.

A car boot sale will also be held alongside children’s amusements and a Punch and Judy show. The City of Leeds Pipe Band will also be in attendance.

The Extravaganza was originally held in 1996, as part of Councillor Nigel Francis’ charity appeal and it has been held ever since. Over the years, its attendance has increased massively with 7,000 people expected to attend.

Money from the event goes towards the ‘Hang on to a Dream’ charity which grants dreams for around 80 young people. Other charities are also supported like the Avro Memorial Appeal.

Tickets cost £5 for an adult, £4 concession. Children under 14 can enter for free if they are accompanied by an adult aged 18 or over.

The event can be found at Knotford Nook, Pool Road A659, Otley, LS21 1EA. Parking is free and you can also get to the even through the A3 bus from Otley Bus Station.

If you want to submit a vehicle, you can access the form on the Otley Vintage Transport Extravaganza website here.
