Oti Mabuse's new ITV dating show Romeo and Duet has left viewers divided as the Strictly star made her presenting debut.
The former Strictly Come Dancing pro dancer - who recently quit the dancing show to focus on other work endeavours - returned to ITV, fresh from her place on the Dancing On Ice panel, for her new dating and singing show.
It made its debut on ITV tonight, with Oti taking the helm in a stunning red dress as she tried to help singletons find love through the medium of song, with fans taking to Twitter to give their verdict on the new show.
"This #romeoandduet reminds me of part #BlindDate and part #TheMaskedSinger. I like it! Loving @OtiMabuse as a presenter! She is definitely doing a fantastic job @ITV," one viewer shared online.
A second added: "I had high hopes for this because I love Oti, but she really should’ve said no to this show #romeoandduet."
"Kudos to Oti getting her own show. I love that for her. BUT I don’t see this show getting a second series. #RomeoAndDuet," a third shared, as a fourth added: "I love Oti but not even she can save this. Not sure if normal TV has gotten worse or I've just aged out of it."
The show marks Oti's presenting debut after she decided to quit Strictly.
"It was my first time hosting in front of a live studio audience. It was the best feeling. They were just so excited to be there. They couldn’t wait. The audience is such a vital part of the show as they’re saying, ‘Come down!’ because they can see both people – or they’re like, ‘Stay where you are’, or they’re confused. And when you’re doing your duet they are voting. In another way they became my co-stars. It was just so special and amazing," she said.
Oti explained it was tough hosting the show, but she enjoyed the "great" experience.
She added: "I love Romeo & Duet. When I’m presenting or hosting, I always wanted something where I can connect with people and communicate and get to know them. I was getting to connect with them and that’s what I really wanted.
"It’s been a great experience. I loved being able to ask the contestants questions as well, when they came down, saying, ‘Why didn’t you come down?’ or ‘Do you have regret…’. Reading links and trying to do the whole thing, concentrating and to not look like you’re super stressed. I loved everything about it. I was so happy going home every night after every show."
