Every Winner & Gracious Loser From The 2025 Oscars

It’s been a wild ride this time around, filled with controversy, twists and turns, and even AI scandals, but the 97th Academy Awards aka ~Oscars night~ is officially upon us.

Leading the tally for nominations this year was the very controversial Emilia Pérez with 13 Oscar nods, followed closely by Wicked and The Brutalist at 10 nominations each.

Meanwhile, all eyes were on the hotly contested actor categories in an awards season that’s really kept us on our toes — would it be The Substance‘s Demi Moore or Anora‘s Mikey Madison? Would Timothée Chalamet become the youngest person to ever win Best Actor or would he be pipped at the post by Adrien Brody?

Well, it turned out that it was Madison and Brody’s stellar performances that won over the hearts of the Academy winning them both an Oscar for Best Actress and Best Actor.

In a pleasant turn of events this year, the Best Director lineup was entirely filled with first-time nominees. Yup, it marks the first Oscars nominations for all five creatives and it was Anora’s Sean Baker who received the highest honour of the year.
