Oscar-winning film Room to get the RTÉ Concert Orchestra treatment in new live show

The RTÉ Concert Orchestra have announced the world premiere of the Oscar-winning film Room with a live score at the National Concert Hall.

It will be introduced by Oscar nominated Room director Lenny Abrahamson and Room composer Stephen Rennicks, in conversation with John Kelly.

Adapted by Emma Donoghue from her own best-selling novel, Room, the movie was anchored by acclaimed performances by Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay.

It received rave reviews and Oscar awards, with star Larson winning Best Actress while the film also received nominations for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay at the Academy Awards in 2016.

The flick also earned a BAFTA, a SAG award and critics’ choice awards.

The score by Rennicks – one of Ireland’s top film composers and a regular Abrahamson collaborator – was described as ‘superbly empathetic’ by the Guardian.

Now, seven years on from the weekend of the original release, this world first features the film accompanied by Rennicks’ score played live by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra under conductor Gavin Maloney.

It is presented by the RTÉ Concert Orchestra by arrangement with STUDIOCANAL and Element Pictures.

The show takes place Saturday 3 September, 7.30pm, National Concert Hall.

Tickets are on sale from €32.50–€45 at www.rte.ie/co.
