Oscar-nominated star Ciaran Hinds has said he believes Kin is "sleazier" than Love/Hate.
The Belfast actor opened up about the "lethal existence" he now feels as an actor, trying to keep audiences engaged in a show.
Ciaran – who starred as gang boss Eamon Cunningham - opened up about starring in the hit crime drama, describing it as a "sleazy" show.
He told us: "People say if you don’t get the audience right away, you’re in the bin.

"They do vox pops, who wants it, building characters. I don’t know. I come from the theatre. I have been doing theatre for 15 years. People weren’t trained for cinema or television, it’s a different world now.
"It’s kind of a lethal existence. And what was great about Kin was it was kind of a slow burner.
"People started comparing it to Love/Hate which I thought was brilliant, but it wasn’t the same beast at all. It was a different take. It was a different outlook on criminal families.
"Kin was sleazier. Love/Hate was a bit rough and ready; this was kind of… there was something oily and sleazy about it."
But the 70-year-old has yet to catch up with the second series of the hit show.
"No. I haven’t had a chance because as you know I don’t live in Dublin, so I have to wait to catch up.
"They showed it in America, but I don’t live there," he said laughing.
"I will catch it, don’t worry. Watching Clare Dunne and Aidan Gillen go to work, that’s something to view," he said.
Ciaran also spoke about his daughter Aoife and how she’s been inundated with work since starring in Derry Girls as Mae Chung.
But Ciaran said she never tells TV bosses who her famous father is – revealing his own agent won’t even represent her.
"She’s grand. She’s getting work.
"She is her own person. She never used my name. In fact, my agent said to me ‘you know when your daughter comes out, I’m not going to represent her’ and I understood completely. It’s too messy. It has to be about the work."
Ciaran also opened up about the second series of The Dry, which stars Roisin Gallagher and Moe Dunford.
"They’re going to go again with it.
"It couldn’t have been that bad, I guess. Me, here, Mr Positive. They are going to start it again and shoot for two months. It’ll be interesting to see what conniptions the family have this time.
"The quirks, the foibles, the serious issues that are in there as well- the alcoholism, the grief, abandonment, but I think Nancy Harris has done, I think, a fantastic job.
"The issues are there and they approach them, but she doesn’t overweight it because that could be heavy going for people but that’s the way we are isn’t it? A bit messy."
