Oscar-Nominated Actress Announced She's Moving Out of the U.S. As a Result of Trump's Win

América Ferrera has made a drastic decision following President-elect Donald Trump's victory over Kamala Harris this week.

The actress and director, whose parents are Honduran, has decided to move with her family to the United Kingdom in search of "better opportunities" for her children, as reported by The Daily Mail.

There were rumors that Ferrera was considering relocating across the Atlantic with her husband, Ryan Piers Williams, and their children, Sebastian and Lucia. Now it's official. "[América Ferrera] is devastated by Kamala's defeat and thought the country she lived in was better than this," a source close to Ferrera told the outlet. The source noted that Ferrera campaigned openly for the Democratic candidate.

Ferrera's move, however, is temporary; she plans to split her time between the U.K. and Hollywood to stay active in the U.S. for her career and to support Latina women.

"She will continue to have a presence in the U.S. for work and to fight for Latinas and women, but she'll be abroad for her family and to benefit her children's education. She wants them to have the best opportunities possible, and being abroad is important to her for that reason. She's not abandoning the U.S., but rather prioritizing her life and focusing on what's best for her children," the informant explained.

Her Family Will Seemingly Move to London

According to Hello! magazine, Ferrera has been looking at private schools in southwest London.

"It seems she's planning to move to southwest London. She's been visiting a local private school for her children. She was seen at an open house at [a private school in Barnes] and seemed very pleased with what she saw. It's a school with many celebrity children, so her kids would fit right in," the source added.

"She wants them to have the best opportunities possible and to her, being overseas for that is what is important. She's not abandoning the US, she is prioritizing her life and focusing on the importance for her kids."
