Oscar Gloukh to Celtic bumper transfer asking price named as Maccabi Tel Aviv boss shuts down cash-in strategy

Maccabi Tel Aviv boss Vladimir Ivic insists the club are in no rush to sell wonderkid Oscar Gloukh amid interest from Celtic – as he shut down claims from the Israeli side's owner.

Record Sport revealed at the weekend Ange Postecoglou has included the 18-year-old on a list of January transfer targets as the Australian plans Celtic 's post World Cup transfer strategy. Along with head of scouting and recruitment Mark Lawwell, Postecoglou has put back-up plans in place should any of the Scottish Premiership champions top stars be picked up in January following Qatar 2022.

Gloukh is under consideration after being watched by Celtic’s scouts, and a path appears to have been cleared for the highly-rated teenager with owner Mitchell Goldhar admitting the club could sell in January following talks with the player's representatives. However, former Watford boss Ivic insists Maccabi are in no rush to sell their prized asset and he states there are talks ongoing over a new contract, with the forward's existing deal expiring in 2024.

He told Sport 5 : " We don't want to sell him and we are currently trying to get him to sign a new contract for another four years. He wouldn't be sold unless a team offered €10million (£8.7million). Most importantly, speculation surrounding his future will have no impact on him, as he is a very level-headed child."

It appears the Scottish Premiership leaders face stiff competition to land the player. Foot Mercato report at least two other clubs are interested in a deal. Ligue 1 side Marseille are reportedly weighing up a January move. Zenit Saint-Petersburg, who expressed an interest in the summer, are also considering a fresh approach.
