Osaze Urhoghide faces hardline Celtic transfer stance as Oostende get tough over permanent deal windfall

Forgotten Celtic defender Osaze Urhoghide could be set to return to Parkhead for pre-season as Oostende play hardball over a permanent transfer.

The centre-back struggled for game time during the first six months of the campaign, having made just one appearance since arriving from Sheffield Wednesday last summer.

The 21-year-old enjoyed an upturn in fortunes when he was shipped out on loan by Ange Postecoglou to Oostende in January.

Jack Hendry followed a similar path out of Celtic Park after impressing in the Belgian top flight, and Urhoghide could follow the same path to a permanent departure from the Scottish Premiership.

He became a regular starter for the Belgian outfit and the club have an option to buy in the summer window.

However, Oostende have stated that the price tag in Urhoghide's contract is out of their budget.

Chief executive Gauthier Ganaye has doubled down on that stance as he looks to strengthen the squad this summer, but left the door open for talks.

He told Belgian outlet KW : “Urhoghide made a positive impression and is an added value for the team, but his price tag is too high for the time being."
