The Cincinnati Bengals lost starting left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. to an injury during Sunday’s win against the Cleveland Browns.
Brown limped off the field with trainers, went to the blue medical tent, and didn’t return to the game. But Bengals head coach Zac Taylor sounded optimistic about Brown’s injury after the game, at least.
Monday, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported that Brown suffered a calf strain. The veteran will have more tests this week to determine the severity of the injury.
If Brown needs to miss extended time, Cody Ford will step in next to Cordell Volson on the left edge in front of Joe Burrow. But that does put a big strain on the line’s depth, as there isn’t an immediate backup behind right tackle Amarius Mims with Trent Brown already lost for the season.
Update: Taylor told reporters on Monday that Brown will be considered questionable for Week 8.
