Orlando Bloom reacts to fiancee Katy Perry's major role in King Charles' Coronation

Orlando Bloom has gushed over Katy Perry's inclusion in the upcoming Coronation of King Charles III.

The American songstress, 38, is set to perform at the Coronation concert in London on May 7, and her fiance is suitably impressed.

While he regrettably won't be in attendance, he praised his "girl" for landing yet another prestigious gig.

She is among a list of famous faces ready to serenade the audience at the concert. Others involved include her American Idol co-judge Lionel Richie, who was the first global ambassador of the Prince's Trust - a charity which was founded by the King.

Italian opera star Andrea Bocelli will also perform at the ent which is also set to feature Bette Midler.

Speaking about Katy's inclusion, Pirates of the Caribbean star Orlando told ET Online : "My girl's gonna be singing, that's fun. "

The British-born star continued: "I'm not gonna make it there, sadly, but she's representing which is cool. She does those big, historical things. It's wonderful. She sang for the president too. She does that."

Opening up about what might be next on her agenda, Orlando joked: "Who's left? Maybe the pope. So yeah, it's exciting."

Katy's inclusion came as a surprise to some, but it comes a few years after she was appointed as an ambassador of the British Asian Trust.

She has promised to give fans "what they deserve" at the concert, revealing she will bring "light and love" to her set.

Discussing her official invite, she told Extra: " It was very regal, it was like a cursive I have never seen [before]… I loved it."

She then opened up on her ambassador role, saying: "I’m an ambassador to one of his foundations for the British Asian trust, which primarily focuses on ending child trafficking, which is a huge issue of our time that people don’t talk enough about, and it just aligned with all my values."

The charity was initially founded by King Charles III and Katy joined in 2020.

While she is excitedly getting ready for the big day, there have been calls online for her to step down from her judging role on American Idol.

Some fans have criticised her for what they saw as "mom shaming" a contestant on the show.

The California Gurls singer jokingly pretended to faint after finding out hopeful Sara Beth is a mother of three at the age of 25.

Acknowledge Katy's reaction, the contestant quipped: “If Katy lays on the table, I think I'm going to pass out.”

But it was Katy's follow-up which got fans annoyed as she replied: "Honey, you been laying on the table too much."
