Original Power Rangers seen together for the first time in new trailer

The cast of the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have been seen together for the first time as they reunite for a 30th anniversary special.

Streaming giant Netflix will premiere the "scripted, stand-alone" show on April 19, bringing back several stars from the hit 1993 series.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Once & Always will see a number of fan favourites reprise their roles, including David Yost (Blue Ranger/Billy Cranston), Walter E. Jones (Black Ranger/Zack Taylor) and Barbara Goodson (Rita Repulsa).

However, fans may be disappointed to learn that Amy Jo Johnson (Pink Ranger/Kimberly Hart) declined the offer to return for the show.

The Netflix special will see the returning Power Rangers go head-to-head with Rita Repulsa after discovering she killed Trini Kwan, the original Yellow Ranger.

Thuy Trang, the actress who played the Yellow Ranger, tragically died in 2001 in a car accident. She was just 27 years old.

A trailer released by Netflix shows the Rangers going head-to-head with Rita Repulsa's minions.

"After all these years, I finally found a new body," she shouts, leaving the Power Rangers in disbelief that their enemy has returned.

Trini Kwan's daughter Minh Kwan (played by Charlie Kersh) is adamant they must avenge her mother's death.

"She killed mom. We gotta destroy her," she says.

"This is Ranger business, okay?" the Black Ranger urges, before the Blue Ranger adds: "Let us sort this out."

It's explained that Rita is making a time portal and wants to kill the team before Zordon makes new Rangers.

The Black Ranger says: "We gotta make sure Rita doesn't hurt anybody else," before viewers are shown a framed photo of the late Yellow Ranger.

The trailer for the show was shared on Twitter, as Netflix wrote: "Once a ranger, always a ranger."

Fans have been unable to contain their excitement, with one person replying: "IM SO FKING EMOTIONAL," as they shared a screenshot of Thuy Trang's framed photo.

"im all the way in idc," another insisted, with a third fan tweeting: "Movie night with my nephews on lock."

"Didn’t know they were making this. Nostalgia hitting hard," another fan wrote. A fifth person commented: "I’m down for this!! My son will be stoked on it too. I think the rangers growing with the generations who first got into them is really cool."
