Oreo Cookie Fans are Going to Love this Fan Favorite Return

As people gear up for summer fun, Mondelēz International's (MDLZ) cookie company Oreo is bringing back a fan favorite.

Oreos have been a favorite cookie for well over a century, and are made and distributed around the world. Oreos have tried to mix up the cookie industry by introducing new and different varieties of its world-famous original Oreo cookie.

The cookie company has tried different sizes, going for the Oreo Mini, which was a more bite size version of the original chocolate cookie wafer and crème filling. Oreo also tried to Double Stuf Oreo which unless you were a mathematician who decided to do the math to prove it wasn’t truly a ‘double’ stuff Oreo, the cookies was simply a sugary delight, according to Business Insider.

Oreo also brought out new flavors, with some being a hit and others not so much. Not sure if some of these cookie flavor combinations were just a publicity stunt or if someone genuinely thought that these cookies would taste good to the masses.

The company introduced Limeade Oreos, Fruit Punch Oreos, Candy Corn Oreos, Pistachio Oreos, and Cherry Cola Oreos, all flavors which are toward the bottom of favorite flavors on Ranker. One Oreo that made the cut to stay in production for the long hall is the Golden Oreo. It’s the same filling as the original, but with a vanilla cookie wafer instead of chocolate.

Oreo Makes Big Announcement

Oreo posted on Twitter that it was returning a fan favorite cookie flavor after being off the grocery shelves for nearly a decade, the Cotton Candy Oreo. The Cotton Candy Oreo made its debut to the market back in 2015 as a limited-edition cookie flavor. The relaunch of the Cotton Candy Oreo hits stores on June 5, and again will only be around for a limited time according to Chew Boom. How limited is the question, as it was not mentioned how long they would be available, so if you want to get your hands on some, better get to the store soon.

The Cotton Candy Oreos are filled with “Double-Stuffed” amount of crème filling, that is split between blue and pink cotton candy filling with two Golden Oreo wafers. The Cotton Candy Oreos originally launched with another fan favorite flavor as well, the S’mores Oreo, or the S’mOreo.

As luck would have it, the Oreo S’mores Sandwich Cookies aka “S’mOreo” and the Oreo Blackout Cake Chocolate Sandwich Cookies are currently available as limited editions.  The s’mores cookie is a graham cracker cookie wafer with a layer of marshmallow flavored cream and a layer of chocolate. The Oreo Blackout Cake Chocolate Sandwich cookie is a cookie take on chocolate on chocolate cake but as a cookie. The chocolate cake and crème are between the two chocolate cookie wafers.

Oreos and Beyond

It’s not just a delicious cookie that comes in all kinds of flavors, as Oreo has its mark across other industries as well. Burger King (QSR) brought out two new ice cream flavored desserts dubbed the 'Blast,' one of course being an Oreo Blast. It’s like a McDonald’s Oreo McFlurry or a Dairy Queen Oreo Blizzard, but you can get it at Burger King. It consists of soft serve ice cream with broken pieces of Oreo in it. In a tangier twist, Burger King also offered a Smarties Blast.

Oreo hits the breakfast menu, as Krispy Kreme (DNUT) as the donut maker has launched cookie themed donuts. The Oreo Cookies Donuts, Kreme Oreo Cookies Donuts and Kreme-filled Donuts are only available at participating grocery stores. While Oreos are loved worldwide, what works in one country may not work in others. Oreos in China have had flavors like Green Tea, Hot Chicken Wing and Wasabi. Other flavors have a significant event that the limited-edition cookies are made for, like the red, white and blue filing cookies, that were “Triple Stuf” to promote the United States in the 2020 Olympics.

And there is OreoiD, an option direct from the cookie company, where customers can custom order a batch of Oreo cookies created to fit any occasion. Choose your Oreo crème filling, choose a cookie dip, and choose a color of sprinkles or choose them all. Next, customers can add a company logo or a picture of their choice to create their very own Oreo cookie. It’s a bit pricey, depending on the occasion.
