Oregon Lands Transfer Commitment From Former UCLA Quarterback Dante Moore

It didn’t take long for Oregon to restock its quarterback room following the departure of Bo Nix for the NFL.

The Ducks are reportedly expected to land former UCLA quarterback Dante Moore, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3

The 18-year-old entered the transfer portal in late November at the end of the Bruins’ season, during which he featured in nine games as a freshman. Moore threw for 11 touchdowns and nine interceptions while completing 53.5% of his passes last season.

He’ll head to Eugene to continue his college career, departing UCLA after just one year with the program.

Five-star quarterback Dante Moore will have three years of eligibility after transferring to Oregon.

Moore was one of the most highly coveted quarterback prospects in the class of 2023. The Detroit, Mich. native was rated as highly as the No. 2 prospect in the nation by ESPN. He originally committed to Oregon out of high school but flipped to UCLA in December 2022.

However, it’s not expected that Moore will be the starter for the Ducks, who also added former Oklahoma quarterback Dillon Gabriel during the offseason via the transfer portal. Gabriel, a graduate transfer, figures to run the show offensively in 2024. But Moore, who will have three years remaining of eligibility, could serve as the backup next year with sights on starting in 2025.

With a move to the Big Ten on the horizon, the Ducks have managed to add some serious quarterback talent through the transfer portal.
