A DIVERTED Orange walk has brought a Glasgow city centre street to a standstill.
One of the main processions into Glasgow on Saturday unexpectedly travelled down Bath Street, instead of its public route.
Drivers seemed caught off guard by the change, with long queues forming on West Campbell and Bath Street.
Several drivers were apparently trapped in the area of Sauchiehall Lane, as the march had both points of egress closed off.
One tried to drive through a gap in the march, only to be directed back by police.
Eventually, the procession made a right and continued down West Campbell Street.
The County Grand Lodge of Glasgow's north march was intended to process down Blythswood Street to help form the main procession to Glasgow Green, according to council procession registers.
Marchers on the ground told The National that the parade had always processed down Bath Street.
Two police officers escorting the march thought that it had been diverted, however they were unsure.
Glasgow City Council told The National to refer to their procession registers, and that procession routes could be changed for any reason as the routes are "proposed".
Further, they said to contact Police Scotland and the organisers for more details.
Police Scotland also directed The National to contact the organisers after being approached for clarification.
The Loyal Orange Institution of Scotland has been contacted for comment.
