Oran Kearney was expecting a tough game against Portadown even before their change of manager during the week.
The Ports have struggled to pick up points so far this season with their draw at home to Glenavon last month the only one to their credit.
That inevitably led to Paul Doolin's departure after less than a year in charge of the Shamrock Park hot seat.

The Ports board moved quickly to appoint Niall Currie for a second time at the club after an impressive spell with Championship side Dundela.
For Kearney though, who was disappointed by Coleraine's defeat at home to Cliftonville last Saturday, the points will come for Portadown and he's determined to make sure it doesn't come against his boys.
“The Portadown team we played earlier on in the season and even last season was up there with one of the toughest fixtures we had," said the Bannsiders boss.
“I would be quite clear that it will be no different on Saturday.
“Any Portadown team we’ve played in the last two years has been tough and tight affairs.
“There’s never a huge amount of it but we need to hit the level we know we can hit.
“No player is going to go through the season without making a mistake.
“You accept that’s going to happen but the key thing is that you’re expecting someone else to dig them out.
“Last week, with the mistakes we’ve made ,nobody has and a mistake was made in an area where nobody had the chance to dig them out of a hole.
“We’ve got to stick at it, the players are frustrated, but we’ve got to pick ourselves up again.
“Nobody else is going to pick us up, we will get back to training and work hard to try and put it right."
