Oppo Enco Free2 review: Premium sounding earbuds at an affordable price

Oppo is known for making a wide range of high-end products at affordable prices, from mobile phones to watches.

They also have a huge selection of earbuds that they are constantly adding new models to, with the latest being the Enco Free2.

The Enco Free2 sports a sleek pearly white design with long stems, which allow for great touch controls.

The only issue is that the glossy finish is susceptible to fingerprints and scratches.

The ear tips feel really comfortable without being too invasive over long periods of usage. It comes with two extra sizes but the out of box option works a charm.

The Enco Free2 comes with simple touch controls that give you full autonomy over the earbuds and even have specific controls during calls which are fully welcomed.

The Enco Free2 is the latest earbuds from Oppo (Oppo)

They are very responsive and I was very happy to see that they have volume controls which for some reason aren’t included in all wireless earbuds.

The earbuds come with a compact round case that is essentially a rehash of the Enco X’s case with a few minor differences, but it’s much more convenient and accessible than previous models like the W51 or W31.

The earbuds always felt secure as they are magnetic and stayed safely within the case which makes them perfect for carrying around at all times.

They feature 10 mm, dynamic drivers, with the initial audio quality sounding respectable for the price range. But the Enco Free2 goes a step further to ensure your listening experience is the best it can be by using sound boost technology.

This works by using the HeyMelody app which records your ear’s sensitivity and automatically tailors the audio to match that.

I did find that the before and after experience was very different with the highs and bass sounding much better than before.

The Earbuds sport a premium design (Oppo)

This additional app is great and gives you full authority over your listening experience.

The ANC mode wasn’t as effective as other earbuds in the same price bracket, I barely noticed a difference whether they were on or off.

Oppo has also added a transparency mode to the earbuds which does the opposite of ANC and increases the external noise.

This is great as it automatically pauses your music and allows you to have a greater awareness of your surroundings and engage in conversations without taking the earbuds out.

The Enco Free2 features Low Latency technology, which is an amazing feature for the price range.

I found the audio lag was minimal when testing on shooting games, where having a reliable connection can make all the difference in a fast pace match.

I had no problems connecting them straight out the box with my phone via its Bluetooth V5.2 connection.

The case is reminiscent of the Enco X models (Oppo)

They come with an IP54 rating which means they are resistant to dust and water, so will be great for exercise or long hikes.

However, the case doesn’t come with the same rating so be sure to keep that in mind when out in the rain.

The earbuds have an average battery life of four hours with ANC and six when the ANC is turned off. With the case, it has a combined life of thirty hours, which is great for long walks and hikes.

Verdict

The Enco Free2 is essentially a cheaper version of Enco X without sacrificing much of the quality. It retains much of the great audio experience with the boost coming from the HeyMelody app.

Oppo has really created a premium product at an affordable price, with my only issue being the ANC which wasn’t as efficient as other earbuds in the same price range.

Oppo Enco Free2 is out now for £89.99
