OPINION - Heat on Met Police chief Mark Rowley 12 months into the job: The Leader podcast

Sir Mark Rowley has completed 365 days as Met Police Commissioner, and yesterday he admitted that the force still has hundreds of officers who should have been sacked.

He’s still working on purging unfit officers within the force, following the damning report into the Met Police six months ago, which found it was institutionally racist, misogynistic and homophobic.

It’s been a tough first 12 months into the role for Sir Mark, who’s had to respond to that report, deal with the consequences of NHS staff going on strike, and more recently had to take action to re-arrest escaped prisoner Daniel Khalife, who managed to evade Wandsworth Prison.

In The Leader podcast our Home Affairs Editor Martin Bentham and our Crime Correspondent Anthony France discuss and analyse the Met Police Chief’s first twelve months as commissioner, and look ahead to what he’ll have to deal with next.
