Cardiff's newest crazy golf venue will open its doors for the first time later this month. Golf Fang, which combines crazy golf, cocktails and DJs with a funky street-art inspired decor, has taken over the site of the former Rainbow Casino on Mary Ann Street.

There are 18 holes to play, each with their own theme, with other Golf Fang venues featuring holes inspired by everything from arcade claw machines to Super Mario and the Jeremy Kyle Show. A striking set design is accompanied by a bar and a live DJ helping to create a party atmosphere.

And Cardiff's crazy golf fans don't have long to wait to try out the new venue for themselves, with an opening date of March 24 announced by Golf Fang on St David's Day. In a post on social media, the chain said: "Happy St David's Day Cardiff! To celebrate, we have something to announce. Golf Fang will officially open its doors on March 24 2023! Get yourself booked in now to be amongst the first to experience the most insane crazy golf you've ever seen."
While crazy golf is the name of the game, Golf Fang is labelled as being "about so much more than just golf", with its weird and wonderful interior "an ode to street art, its writers and its origins". A description on its website reads: "Golf Fang is a company that provides guests with positive interaction with street art and its culture. We don’t take ourselves too seriously and have a naughty sense of humour. We consider ourselves a Graffiti Cathedral combined with a seriously twisted crazy golf course and cocktail bar.
"We always love to remind people, crazy golf does happen, but we’re about so much more than just golf! Golf Fang is a ‘sprayground’ and we provide the graff writers with golf courses built into weird and wonderful designs such as buses, shop fronts, film studios and pubs… the list is endless and nothing is off limits."
A number of packages are offered to suit all preferences, with a round of 18 holes only priced at £12.50. If you wanted to add a drink, you can get The G.O.A.T package, which includes 18 holes and one 'insane' cocktail, for £19.50 per person, which the 'Double Parked' package includes 18 holes and two cocktails for £27.50 per person.
There are also discounted offers for students and emergency service workers. The 'F*** Your Lectures Off' package, for students, only includes 18 holes and a cocktail for £14.50, while the same is offered in the 'Get Your Kit Off' package for emergency service workers.
The unique cocktails at Golf Fang's other venues include unique cocktails such as Golfers Paradise, made from Ketel One vodka, passoa, apple juice, cranberry juice, pureed mango and lime juice and the Lethal Drizzle made from Tanqueray gin, Chambord, blackberry liqueur drizzle, elderflower, apple and lemon juice topped with tonic.
Golf Fang is the latest experience-led venue to open in the city, with Gareth Bale's mini-golf bar Par 59 and 'social darts' bar Flight Club both opening on nearby St Mary Street last year. Boom Battle Bar in the Brewery Quarter also offers a range of games including axe throwing and shuffleboard while retro arcade games are on offer at both NQ64 and Kongs.
