Opening date confirmed for Seel Street bar inspired by Johnny Cash

A new bar inspired by the music of Johnny Cash will be opening its doors next week.

Located on Seel Street in the city centre, Mean-Eyed Cat will launch on Friday, February 24 with an evening of live music. Guests will be able to enjoy a cocktail and fresh pizza on the house.

The new bar will be the second Mean-Eyed Cat venue in the UK, following the bar's success in Leeds. Mean-Eyed Cat is led by Phil Harrison and his family, who are originally from St Helens and have close links with Liverpool.

Mean-Eyed Cat will offer an extensive drinks and cocktail menu in a venue that features a distinct Johnny Cash theme throughout. The launch party will be open to the public from 7pm and guests will be given a premium drink token as well as an offer for a complimentary drink on a return visit.

Phil Harrison said: "All of the team are readying themself for our exciting launch in Liverpool - we can't think of a better time to get involved in this wonderful city's nightlife. Our first event will give people a first look at what the Mean-Eyed Cat bar is all about.

"We have made sure every detail is perfect for the night itself, and our signature Mean-Eyed Cat bar features are set to impress - including our original artwork from local artists, which reflects our ethos of independence and creativity. The Johnny Cash theme is a distinct feature throughout, providing the perfect backdrop for our live music.

"We have the capacity for 300 guests, and we really look forward to giving them a Mean-Eyed Cat bar welcome. There will be a special reveal on the night itself, and guests will also be able to see private booking areas available, should they wish to book their own party in the future.

"Both myself and my family have huge ties to the city of Liverpool, so it was really important for us to establish our second venue here. As long as you enjoy great music and a first-rate drinks menu, then this will be the perfect place to meet, relax and party.

"We are also pleased that we have had such a positive response to our recruitment drive. We have a real family feel to our team and we know it is a vital time to be adding employment opportunities to the local economy."
