Open-top bus tour set to launch in Aberdeen

THE Aberdeen Adventurer open-top bus tour is launching to give locals and tourists the chance to see a different side to the Granite City.

From April 18, the hop-on, hop-off tour will take passengers around the city’s most Instagrammable spots and must-see landmarks, learning about the history and enjoying the culture.

Russell Borthwick, chief executive of the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, said: “The spirit of Vanguard is alive and well with another fantastic project poised to launch this month.

“We’ve devised an amazing route, a first-class new product for visitors to the Granite City, and it’s a great culmination of the best sort of partnership in action.”

Sights on the tour will include the fishing village of Fittie, the Sir Alex Ferguson statue at Pittodrie, King’s College, the Aberdeen Art Gallery and more.

Ticket holders will receive discounts and offers from places including BrewDog, Aberdeen FC and The Terrace Bar & Café.

Chris Foy, chief executive of VisitAberdeenshire, said: “The Aberdeen Adventurer is set to be a wonderful way to discover and indeed rediscover our city, whether our visitors are here for a weekend break, a conference, or a day ashore from a cruise ship.”

Upcoming events in Aberdeen like the Tall Ships and Offshore Europe are likely to draw large crowds of tourists.

Stephen Riggans, area director of McGill’s Buses, said that the new bus tour will “perfectly complement the many fantastic things to see and do in Aberdeen”.

Day tickets are £15 for adults, £10 for concessions (including students) and £8 for children between five and fifteen years old.

Family tickets (two adults and up to three children) are £32 and under-fives travel free with an adult.
