As maiden DP World Tour wins go, it doesn't get much better than the one Angel Hidalgo secured at the Open de Espana at Club de Campo Villa de Madrid.
Not only was the 26-year-old competing in his homeland's national open, but he was up against one of the world's best players, compatriot Jon Rahm, along with several other LIV golfers.
Hidalgo and Rahm couldn't be separated after 72 holes, so the pair headed for a playoff, which ended after the second extra hole when Rahm's birdie putt from the edge of the green missed right, leaving Hidalgo to make no mistake with his own birdie putt.
As well as joining the likes of Rahm, Seve Ballesteros and Sergio Garcia as some of the big names from Spain who have lifted the trophy, there's also a far from insignificant financial reward coming his way.
The tournament had one of the higher payouts on the DP World Tour this season, with €2.9m ($3.25m) up for grabs and Hidalgo claimed €494,861 for his achievement, with Rahm having to settle for €320,204.
There was even more on the table for players at this week's event, not least Race to Dubai ranking points.
Like most of the other events in the Back 9 phase of the DP World Tour season, there were 5,000 available in Spain as players continue the fight to finish in the top 110 in the standings to guarantee a DP World Tour card for next season.
Towards the summit, stars are eyeing the chance to follow in Pavon’s footsteps by finishing in the top 10 of the standings to claim a PGA Tour card.
Before the tournament, Hidalgo sat 88th in the standings, but his victory has now seen him leap to 18th and surely eyeing the possibility of a place in the top-10 with four events to go in the regular season, including another tournament in Spain, the Andalucia Masters.
We are now also more than a month into the Ryder Cup qualifying period for European players, which adds to the importance of what was already a prestigious stop on the DP World Tour schedule. Hidalgo began the week 66th in the standings, but he has now jumped to fifth.
