Misfits boxing star Astrid Wett couldn't help herself as she brutally mocked Weston McKennie following Leeds United's relegation from the Premier League.
Misfit McKennie was part of the Leeds side that was relegated from the Premier League on Sunday. Sam Allardyce’s suffered a 4-1 defeat at home to Tottenham, sending them into the Championship alongside Southampton and Leicester.
The American midfielder joined Leeds in January on loan from Juventus until the end of the season and made 19 appearances in the Premier League. He struggled to make an impact and was jeered by supporters as he was substituted on the final day. His withdrawal was greeted with chants of "you fat b******".
Wett, who beat AJ Bunker to become Misfits Boxing's flyweight champion in March, was quick to stick the boot in. As well as being a boxer, Wett is also on OnlyFans and posts raunchy pictures on social media.
Quote-tweeting a post which labelled McKennie the “Worst loan signing in history”, Wett wrote: “No wonder he has a s*** season he was too busy subscribing and liking my pics”. Her tweet contained a screenshot which showed McKennie liking seven of her Instagram posts.
Her tweet from Sunday evening has been viewed nearly a million times – and it isn’t the only post mocking Leeds since their relegation was confirmed. Chelsea’s official Twitter account also jumped at the opportunity to score points, bringing up a post from Leeds from August.
Leeds beat Chelsea 3-0 in August and had quote-tweeted Chelsea reporting two of their goals with the caption “life comes at you fast”. Eight months on, the Blues quote-tweeted that post with “It certainly does” to rub salt into their wounds.
McKennie will be among a group of players who leave Leeds in the summer transfer window as the club trim their underperforming squad. The American will likely not be remembered fondly at Elland Road, but his dad still posted his thanks to the fanbase.
Quote-tweeting a video of famous gorilla Harambe, his father, John McKennie, wrote: “All the best to LUFC! For those who supported Weston in a hostile environment you have my respect! For those who failed to remember it’s a team sport you live to fight another day.”
Allardyce, who arrived on a short-term deal on May 3, gave an honest appraisal of his players. "It's professional suicide," he said. "We prepare for games, but when you do things like we did with the huge errors, people like Harry Kane will take full advantage. We messed up again. Without stopping the goals going in we couldn't pick the points up.
"We wanted to go out with a sense of pride - but I just didn't see that. It's all about the basics. It's very sad this club is getting relegated, having worked so hard for so long to get back into the Premier League."
