'Only one option' - Kris Boyd voices growing Philippe Clement Rangers quit fear

Kris Boyd has revealed his growing concern that Philippe Clement could quit his post as Rangers manager.

The Ibrox hero is fearful that the Belgian boss "could easily walk away" from the club after comments in recent weeks.

Boyd - who is desperate to see Clement remain in the Ibrox dugout - worries recent revelations over transfer spending funds could leave the manager with only one option; to quit.

“That’s the reality,” Clement says when asked if his transfer plans were dependent on players leaving this summer. “That’s the reality that the board told me a few months ago.

“I know this, the recruitment team knows this also. This is the reality of the club. I had other expectations when I came in in October, I have to say.

“But I know the reality now. I am very motivated to build the club and help in that. It’s focusing not only on the short term but also on the long term."

In his Scottish Sun column, Boyd wrote: "Philippe Clement looks to me like a man on the brink.

"Like someone who could easily walk away from Rangers anytime soon.

"I hate saying that. And I hope I’m wrong."

He continued: "Clement strikes me as a shrewd guy, he’s certainly not someone who suffers fools gladly.

"With that in mind, I genuinely fear he’s close to deciding the situation leaves him with only one option.

"And that’s to quit.

"Rangers fans won’t enjoy hearing that but deep down they’ll all be fearing the same thing."
