Only one England player makes Euro 2024 team of the tournament despite reaching final

Kyle Walker was the sole representative from the England national team in UEFA's official Euro 2024 team of the tournament despite Gareth Southgate's team finishing runners-up.

The Manchester City right-back featured in all seven of England's matches as they eventually fell short in a 2-1 final defeat to Spain.

His crucial contribution came in the round of 16, where his long throw-in set up Jude Bellingham's acrobatic goal, keeping England's campaign alive.

However, Walker's decision to pass the ball backwards to teammate John Stones during a crucial moment in the final, when England had just equalised, drew some criticism.

Alongside Walker in the team of the tournament was Spain's midfielder, Rodri, who was also named the official player of the tournament.

The newly-crowned winners had six players included. Among them were 17-year-old Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, Chelsea's Marc Cucurella, Dani Olmo, Fabian Ruiz, and Nico Williams.

The team was rounded out by France's goalkeeper Mike Maignan, defender William Saliba, Switzerland's Manuel Akanji, who missed a penalty in his team's quarter-final shootout defeat to England, and Germany's Jamal Musiala.
