'Only fair' - Vinicius Jr makes Champions League claim after 'indescribable' Liverpool moment

Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr has reflected on the Champions League final in Paris and says it was 'only fair' they were crowned champions after their successful season.

The Spanish club wrapped up the La Liga title just weeks before the final and the 22-year-old winger went on to score the winning goal of the match in Paris. Liverpool had their chances, but were unable to put anything past goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Vinicius enjoyed an impressive campaign for Real Madrid last term and scored 22 goals and registered 20 assists in all competitions. Although, he admitted delivering on the biggest stage of all was an 'indescribable' feeling.

“After a wonderful season, it was only fair to crown us with a victory in the final,” he told realmadrid.com. “I’ve been playing football for more than 15 years and you never know when you’re going to play a final, so I wanted to enjoy it to the fullest. (Scoring against Liverpool) was an unrepeatable feeling.

“Only those who have scored in this type of game in the Champions League can understand this feeling. It’s indescribable. You don’t know how to express it, how to explain it, there’s no way. Only those who have lived football and gone through the emotions that we have experienced this season know how important it is and how happy it makes you.”

As Real Madrid prepare for a new season and will hope to replicate their success of 2021/22, Liverpool themselves will be hungrier than ever to get their hands on even more silverware. The Reds kick off their campaign against Manchester City this weekend in the FA Community Shield before the Premier League gets underway a week later.
