Andy Robertson had a message for Harvey Elliott after he provided the assist for the teenager’s goal on his return for Liverpool.
Elliott made his first appearance for the Reds since being stretchered off against Leeds United in September and marked the occasion with his first Liverpool goal.
Celebrating in front of the Kop, it was a moment that both the player and crowd savoured after fearing that the starlet’s season had been cut short, just as he was breaking into Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Robertson was one of several Liverpool team-mates to congratulate the 18-year-old on his comeback - but he did want some of the credit for Elliott’s success.

The full-back wrote on Instagram: “A comeback, a goal (you’re welcome…) and even a new chant which sounded familiar. Buzzing for the starboy @harveyelliott07 #OhHarveyHarvey
“Into the next round #YNWA”
With the Anfield crowd having sung his name to the tune usually reserved for Robertson, Elliott thanked the Scot for providing the assist for his emphatic finish.
Accompanied by laughing emojis, Elliott replied: “Thank you my man they'll only be one man to this chant and that’s you.
“Cheers for the assist as well!! It’s probably boring the amount of times people have thanked you for assists now but I appreciate it.”
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp described Elliott’s appearance from the bench as a 'fairytale' after the match as his side progressed to the FA Cup fifth round, where they will face Norwich City at Anfield.
Elliott came off the bench alongside new arrival Luis Diaz on 58 minutes and it was the winger who made the more immediate impact.
With Diogo Jota having given the Reds the lead, Diaz won the ball back after dispossessing a Cardiff defender near the byline before providing a simple finish for Takumi Minamino, ten minutes after coming on.
Elliott then grabbed Liverpool’s third of the day eight minutes later, capping off a memorable day for the youngster.
