A Cardiff business owner has opened his first physical shop. Graham Scutt opened his first Loaded Dice store in Barry on Tuesday, April 4 selling toys, games and collectables.
Owner Graham, 39, established the business in January 2020 selling products online through the Loaded Dice website as well as on Amazon. Speaking to WalesOnline he said starting the business just before the pandemic was "initially scary but we modelled through and served our customers that wanted our products.
Graham added that he chose to move his business into a physical store because he "wanted to expand into a shop to start connecting with customers in person." As a former resident of Barry, he chose to open his hobby shop on Holton Road in Barry instead of his new hometown of Cardiff as he said he felt there were already many hobby/gaming stores already in Cardiff. He added: "I really like Barry town and there was nothing here like Loaded Dice, which really surprised me."

In it's first week of opening, Graham said Loaded Dice has served a "diverse" variety of customers according and has seen some success. Reflecting on the feedback from customers, he said it had been "overwhelmingly positive and [there is] happiness from them as they can get what they want, as well as that their town is getting something new."
As well as gaining support from customers, Graham has experienced gratitude from fellow traders and local residents in Barry. "The other traders have been really really welcoming and really supportive," he said. "They have given me loads of help. The locals are happy that Barry is getting more shops so that they don't have to go into Cardiff."
