Efforts to contain bushfires in Queensland's Western Downs have stretched into a fourth day with emergency warnings for residents north of the town of Miles.
Residents of Kowguran and Guluguba were told to prepare to leave on Wednesday night as a large, fast-moving fire travelled from Welshs Road and L Tree Creek Road towards the Leichhardt Highway.
The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service warned conditions could get worse quickly.
Multiple warnings were also in place for Myall Park and Hookswood due to a blaze travelling within containment lines between Ryalls Road and Gearys Road.
Another fire at Montrose and Wieambilla, near Tara, was extinguished on Wednesday afternoon, QFES said.
The blaze has burned through more than 27,000 hectares and no fatalities or significant injuries have been reported.
