OnePlus 10 Pro is finally coming to Ireland: find out when and how much it costs

Smartphone pioneer OnePlus has finally confirmed the Irish (and European wide) release of its eagerly anticipated OnePlus 10 Pro flagship handset.

The company had released the phone in China back in January with a second-Generation Hasselblad Pro Mode and new 150-degree ultra-wide camera among the headline grabbing features.

Now all of that tech goodness is coming to Ireland next week.

Unlike previous iterations of the OnePlus, when there were standard and Pro versions, this year there is just a Pro model.

OnePlus 10 Pro comes in two colours and two configurations.

The base model is only available in Volcanic Black, has 128GB of storage and 8GB of RAM and costs €899. There is also a 256GB/12GB model which costs €999 and it comes in both the Volcanic Black and Emerald Forest colours.

Performance

The OnePlus 10 Pro will be powered by the latest high-end Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip.

It comes pre-installed with OxygenOS 12.1 based on Android 12.

The company said that like all the other OnePlus flagship devices, 10 Pro will receive three major Android updates and four years of security updates.

Display

The 10 Pro sports a 120Hz Fluid AMOLED with LTPO screen, which means the phone can adjust its refresh rates to improve battery life.

The screen is a large 6.7in size with QHD+ resolution.

It's also got what the firm calls Dual Colour Calibration. This means it has been calibrated at two levels of brightness – 500 nits and 100 nits.

The company said this results in 50 per cent greater colour accuracy when viewing it at low brightness.

Superfast charging

The handset supports 80w Supervooc wired charging and 50w wireless charging.

The 80w Supervooc charger, which comes in the box, can power the phone in 32 minutes. It supports a feature called Smart Charge Protection that is designed to preserve battery health.

Wireless charging is incredibly fast too, with 50w Airvooc fully recharging the OnePlus 10 Pro in less than an hour.

Cameras

OnePlus 10 Pro has a 48MP main camera, 50 MP ultrawide and 8MP telephoto.

The camera system boasts an array of new features made possible through OnePlus’s unique partnership with legendary camera manufacturer Hasselblad.

These include the OnePlus Billion Colour Solution and second-generation Hasselblad Pro Mode with RAW+.

OnePlus Billion Colour Solution

The company said that the Natural Colour Calibration with Hasselblad on the OnePlus 10 Pro is applied to more than one billion colours.

The firm said that OnePlus 10 Pro captures photos with a 25 per cent increase in DCI-P3 colour gamut coverage and can process 64 times more colour than its predecessor – the OnePlus 9 Pro.

And 10-bit colour is supported on each of the OnePlus 10 Pro’s three rear cameras – the main, telephoto and ultra-wide camera.

The company added that this will remove colour banding from shots, resulting in smooth colour transitions whenever you tap the camera shutter button.

Second-generation Hasselblad Pro Mode

The second-generation Hasselblad Pro Mode supports a new empowered RAW format called RAW+.

The firm said that it provides all the benefits of capturing in a RAW format with the smartphone’s computational photography elements.

This results in the highest quality photo files with greater dynamic range, noise reduction, and more that empowers users that love editing their shots.

Hasselblad Pro Mode is supported on all three of its rear cameras and allows each to capture photos in 12-bit RAW complete with Hasselblad Natural Colour Solution.

OnePlus 10 Pro 150-degree ultra-wide camera

The new phone boasts an ultra-wide sensor offering a 150-degree field of view – up to four times wider than traditional ultra-wide cameras.

It supports a new Fisheye Mode that replicates the look of dedicated fisheye cameras and provides a fresh perspective when shooting.

The ultra-wide shooter also supports photo capture in a more traditional 110-degree field of view, complete with AI distortion correction.

Movie Mode

The new Movie Mode allows for the adjustment of ISO, shutter speed, and more before and during video capture.

It enables users to film in a LOG format without a pre-set picture profile, providing videographers with a blank canvas for editing.

Footage captured in a LOG format also offers greater dynamic range and more information in shadows and highlights.

OnePlus Buds Pro in Radiant Silver

The firm also revealed a new OnePlus Buds Pro limited edition in Radiant Silver.

It takes all the incredible features from the regular OnePlus Buds Pro – like powerful noise cancellation up to 40 dB paired with 11 mm large dynamic drivers – and delivers them in an eye-catching new colourway.
