The Crown has officially released its final instalment, with Netflix dropping its highly anticipated sixth season this week.
The sixth instalment has been the show's most highly anticipated, following the Mountbatten-Windsors in the early 2000s, from the tragic aftermath of Princess Diana's death to the early days of Prince William and Kate Middleton's courtship.
And as such, the latest instalment has seen newcomers Meg Bellamy, Ed McVey and Luther Ford come onboard as Kate Middleton, Prince William and Prince Harry.
The long running show has been one of Netflix's most popular, but while all six seasons have been met with high praise from viewers, they are reported to have ruffled a few royal feathers over the years.
Unsurprisingly, King Charles wasn't too thrilled with his portrayal in the fifth season, with his team reportedly concerned for his popularity after the show's depiction of the Princess Diana storyline.
Another royal who was reportedly angered by the Princess Diana storyline is Prince William, with a royal source telling the Daily Mail that he "feels that both his parents are being exploited and being presented in a false, simplistic way to make money".
There have also been reports that the Princess of Wales and her team were concerned about her portrayal in The Crown, with sources telling Us weekly that she believed the show could portray her as a "very privileged, lovesick young woman".
“Kate wants people to see her as a strong leader, someone who’s capable of taking the title of Queen into a new generation,” the sources alleged to the publication.
They continued: “Kate’s switching up her style in an effort to win people over, and also to get ahead of the beating she feels her image will take when The Crown’s new season debuts."
The show has found some royal fans over the years however, with Sophie Wessex, Princess Eugenie and even Queen Elizabeth herself known to have tuned in, and seemingly for the most part, approved.
There is even one royal family member who went so far as to have "loved" their portrayal.
The royal viewer in question? Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, played in The Crown season four by Jessica Aquilina.
Fergie, as she is known, told Us Weekly that she "loved" the way her wedding to Prince Andrew was portrayed in The Crown.
"I thought it was filmed beautifully," she told the publication at the time. "The cinematography was excellent. I loved the way they put my wedding in as well."
Well, there we have it.
