One person taken to hospital following collision on A19 Southbound at Sunderland

One person was taken to hospital following a collision on A19 Southbound.

Emergency services were called to a collision on the A19 Southbound shortly after 1pm on Sunday afternoon.

The road, from A1231 Sunderland Highway to A183, was partially blocked while emergency services attended the incident.

North East Ambulance Service dispatched a paramedic crew to the scene. Northumbria Police also attended the scene.

The ambulance service transported a person to the Sunderland Hospital.

Police officers have since confirmed that the road has reopened.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We were called at 1.05pm this afternoon to a two-vehicle RTC.

"A paramedic crew attended and took one patient to Sunderland Hospital."
