One person injured after row of terraced houses goes up in flames in Dalston

One person was injured as a row of three town houses went up in flames in east London.

Around 70 firefighters rushed to tackle the blaze which swept across the terraced homes in Chester Crescent, Dalston at 12.20am on Thursday.

Ridley Road Market was still sealed off on Thursday as the London Fire Brigade urged people to avoid the area.

Two people fled the house before firefighters arrived with one being treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

The fire was under control by 2.06am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Station Commander Chris Jenner, who was at the scene, said: “Two people left the house before the Brigade arrived and crews wearing breathing apparatus carried out a thorough search of the properties to ensure no one was still inside.

“The Brigade’s drones were used at the scene to provide an aerial view and support Incident Commanders in developing tactics to help tackle the fire.

“Ridley Road remains closed whilst crews work to make the scene safe and we urge people to avoid the area.”
