One person dies after helicopter crash in Kildare field

One person has died after a helicopter crashed into a Kildare field yesterday.

The incident took place roughly 6 kilometres away from Kilcullen on Sunday evening.

Investigations into the incident remain ongoing.

“It is Gardai’s understanding that there has been one confirmed fatality in this crash," a garda spokesman said.

"A file will be prepared for the Coroner upon completion of an examination.”

They added: “Gardai continue to assist emergency services and hold the scene of a helicopter crash in Kilcullen, Co. Kildare, which occurred yesterday evening, Sunday, 11th December 2022.

“Gardai will provide assistance to the Air Accident Investigation Unit (AAIU) who are the lead agency in this investigation.”
