One of UK's 'most expensive' gins now up for sale in top Glasgow store

A gin that's considered to be one of the most expensive in the UK has arrived in Glasgow - and is on sale at just under £170 a bottle.

Designed by legendary fashion photographer and artist Mert Alas, Seventy One Gin took four years to perfect and is now on sale at top food and drink outlet Billington's of Lenzie.

No strangers to knowing what it takes to make a great gin, Billington's who have created their own award-winning gin, have the bottles on sale at £168 with the luxury gin also available for £10 a dram in their deli.

The luxury gin is made using hand-picked damask rose, grapefruit and the Queen of the Night flower – an exceptionally rare flower that only blooms once a year, only at night, wilting before dawn.

A post on the Billngton's website read: "Setting out to reclaim gin’s rightful place as an enthralling spirit of the night, SEVENTY ONE is designed for the after-hours, casting aside the traditional gin experience, challenging category norms, and establishing itself as a playfully provocative, yet luxurious spirit.

"Each limited edition is gently rested for precisely 71 nights in select oak casks, delivering an unparalleled smoothness and an added dimension of complexity, imbuing the spirit with a golden glow."

Co-owner of Billington's, Mark Billington, described the new offering as "impressive" adding that it's "served like a whisky over ice".
