One of Greater Manchester's cheapest rental flats where there's not even enough room for a bed

More people are choosing to rent amid the UK's cost of living crisis as buying your own home is becoming even more unaffordable. As well as house prices being at an all-time high, the soaring cost of energy bills, food, petrol prices and council tax means people are now much less likely to be able to save up and get on the property ladder.

For those looking to rent, there are certain parts of Greater Manchester where rent costs are much more affordable, such as the boroughs of Bolton, Wigan and Oldham. But although prices are low, these cheap properties often come with a lack of space.

This flat in Bolton is one of the latest rental homes to come onto the market and is also one of the region's cheapest. The studio on Shrewsbury Road can be rented for just £350 a month, which is around £81 a week.

The rent includes council tax and heating bills, so it is a great option for anyone looking to live on a budget. But as expected, the second-floor bedsit is extremely small - and there isn't even enough room for a proper bed.

The tiny flat has just one room, with a fitted kitchen in one corner, a sofa in the middle and wardrobes on the other side, with the only space for a bed being in the wardrobe.

Running along one side of the flat, the fitted wardrobes have a pull-down bed hidden inside them. You'll need to pull this bed out each night to sleep on and pack it away every morning to make sure there is enough living space in your flat.

On the plus side, your white goods such as a fridge and washing machine do come included in your rent.

Estate agents say the bedsit is located in a sought-after area, off Chorley New Road, with Bolton station just over a mile down the road.

The flat is available to let immediately with long-term tenants required. You'll need to pay one month's rent in advance plus a deposit, which is not specified on the listing, to secure the flat.
