A popular "one of a kind" Woolton café has closed its doors after eight years in business.
The Old Hardware Shop, based on Woolton Street, was a beloved vegan destination with an extensive menu of creative and comforting dishes. The venue served a variety of breakfasts, sandwiches, hot dogs, and more, as well as sweet treats including cakes, milkshakes and desserts.
Now, the shop has "officially closed". Taking to Instagram, the Old Hardware team expressed gratitude to customers old and new for leaving "such moving messages" and sharing their support over the sad news of the closure.

The restaurant had been closed while the team were on maternity and paternity leave, but they have since confirmed it will not be reopening as initially planned. A statement on Instagram reads: "Hello everyone, we were hoping to end our maternity and paternity leave and open back up this month, just in time for our eighth birthday.
"But unfortunately due to various reasons, we aren't able to continue here at the Old Hardware Shop, but hope to see you all if we find another location in the future.
"We have absolutely loved our time here and we will cherish the memories and friends we have made over the last eight years. We hope you all remember us as fondly as we will remember you. Goodbye for now."
The post was met with a flurry of responses from devastated fans. One tagged a friend and said: "How gutted are we going to be about this! We absolutely loved every single visit to TOHS, it was such a one of a kind place. Hopefully a new location can be found soon, we can't go too long without you".
Another said: "You were our main reason for visiting Woolton. We hope you find somewhere new soon and will be sure to visit wherever you choose to go."
A third commented: "i'm absolutely gutted for you. thank you so much for the many delicious meals, and the most amazing cakes i've ever tasted. i wish you all the best for the future, take care of yourselves".
In a follow up post, the venue added: "Hello everyone! Now that The Old Hardware Shop is officially closed, we just wanted to say the biggest THANK YOU to everyone who left us the loveliest comments and sent us such moving messages.
"Every single one meant so much to us and we have screenshot them all so we will have them forever. We're so lucky to have had such kind and supportive customers and we already miss you all. We haven't found new premises yet, but look out for a post tomorrow about how you can order cakes and treats! We can't wait to get back to baking for you!!"
