A one man show with a political point is being held in Lanarkshire later this week.
The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists will be performed at St Columbkille's Church in Rutherglen on Friday night (August 26).
Community group the People's Past People's Future has organised the production, which has been adapted for a one man show by the actor Neil Gore, based on the book by Robert Tressell.
The story focuses on painters and decorators who are struggling to maintain their finances through poverty and the overhanging threat of unemployment, while they are renovating a large house for the local mayor.
One of the group, Frank Owen, has socialist views and expresses them to the rest of the group, creating conflict and arguments.
Although the story touches on real issues, exploring the themes of socialism and capitalism, it is well regarded for highlighting them with humour and wit.
It has been praised by the likes of film director Ken Loach, who said it is: "A strong and robust show that brings the characters, humour and inspirational ideas of this great book to life.
"It is needed now more than ever. You'll leave the theatre and join the struggle."
The show is taking place at 7pm with tickets priced at £5.
