One person was killed dead and five were wounded in a shooting near Atlantic Station in downtown Atlanta on Saturday night, authorities say.
The shooting occurred at around 8pm during a dispute on the 17th Street bridge in Atlantic Station, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
Gunfire erupted after a group aged between 15 and 21 were escorted off the open-air mall property by security guards and off-duty Atlanta police officers, Atlanta police Lt Germain Dearlove said at a news conference on Saturday night.
“At this time, we have one male on scene deceased and several others were transported to area hospitals,” Mr Dearlove said.
Mr Dearlove said the circumstances of the shooting were under investigation, and no one was in custody.
“It may be between two groups, one shooting at another, so two possible shooters,” Mr Dearlove said.
Atlantic Station is a private mall consisting of retail and residential outlets.
A spokesman told the Associated Press they were assisting police with the investigation.
According to its website, Atlantic Station enforces a 3pm curfew after which anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
The shooting occurred on one of the busiest shopping weekends of the year.
A witness told local news site WXIA that they heard as many as 30 rounds of gunfire.
