Beloved mum found dead by daughter was 'one in a million'

A "one in a million" mum was found dead by her daughter.

Elaine Parker died at her home in Speke on January 28 this year at the age of 45. Elaine, who was described as an amazing woman, leaves behind two daughters, Chloe and Georgia, who she "absolutely adored".

An inquest into Elaine's death was held by Assistant Coroner for Liverpool and Wirral Kate Wilson, at Gerard Majella Courthouse in Kirkdale today (Wednesday). The inquest heard mum-of-two Elaine had been away with her friend Lisa Wright just days before she died, and had returned home on January 23.

During the weekend, the inquest heard Elaine had confided in her friend that she was feeling low due to the death of her mum.

After retuning home, Elaine had sent a text to her daughter Chloe to say "I love you." Chloe didn't hear from her mum the following day, and she received a text from her friend Lisa to say she also hadn't heard from her which was unusual.

Chloe went over to her mum's house on January 28 and found her mum. Paramedics attended but Elaine was sadly confirmed dead.

A statement was read out in court from Lisa Wright who had been friends with Elaine for the last 12 years. Lisa said she usually spoke to Elaine everyday and had noticed lately she had been suffering with her mental health.

Lisa said Elaine hadn't been responding to her texts or calls and she noticed she'd last been online at 10.40pm the day before she died. She asked her son to give her a lift to check on Elaine on January 28, with Chloe arriving a short time earlier.

A doctor's report said findings from external examinations found no suspicious marks or injuries on Elaine's body. A toxicology report found evidence of alcohol consumption in her system.

The doctor recorded the medical cause of death as death by hanging. Coroner Wilson said she would not conclude the inquest today following concerns that were raised by Elaine's daughter Chloe.

Chloe said she had been unable to find her mum's keys following her death and had raised this with police, who she felt hadn't taken this into consideration during the course of their investigation.

In a report, Merseyside Police said officers had investigated and didn't believe there had been any third party involvement in Elaine's death. The inquest was adjourned while further statements were requested from police.

Paying tribute to her mum on Facebook following her death, daughter Georgia said: "I am heartbroken beyond words that I have lost my mum & best friend. It doesn’t feel real at all, it’ll never be the same.

"Forever grateful of the memories made together through our travel buddy days, if only more could have been made which we planned love you all around the universe and back again."

Commenting on the post, one woman said: "Thinking of you Georgia so sorry for your loss your mum was one in a million xxx."

Another said: "Your mum was one of a kind & absolutely adored you and Chloe! Thinking of you all loads. Rest in peace Elaine xx."

A third added: "I cant believe this news Chloe and Georgia I am so shocked. What an amazing woman. She was always the life and soul of every party I have ever had the pleasure of being in her company. She will be missed by all. Sending love to you all."
