Brentford are closing in on Freiburg and Netherlands goalkeeper Mark Flekken - in a move that could end their interest in Caoimhin Kelleher.
The Bees were linked last week with the Boys in Green ace, who looks likely to leave Liverpool this summer, either on loan or in a permanent transfer.
Kelleher (24) is in need of regular first-team football at club level, something he won’t get at Anfield, where he remains back-up to Brazil star Alisson.
Brentford and Tottenham have both been linked with swoops this summer for the 10-time capped Cork native.
However, it emerged over the weekend that Thomas Frank’s men were in advanced talks with Freiburg or Flekken.
They are prepared to activate the €13m release clause in the 29-year-old’s contract with the Bundesliga side.
Brentford are on the lookout for a fresh face in their goalkeeping department, with David Raya expected to leave this summer.
