One Direction was reportedly in talks of a reunion show prior to Liam Payne‘s tragic death and now, the former band members are considering reuniting for a tribute to their late friend. I’m going to need a few hours in a quiet, dark room to process that information.
According to an insider source, former One Direction members Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson are now considering reuniting for a tribute show in their late bandmate’s honour.
“The guys would love to do a tribute to Liam,” the source told Us Weekly.
“They’re all so devastated right now they can’t even think about that as a legitimate project, but it has been discussed. Liam’s death has caused the guys immense heartbreak.”
The source also claimed that the former band One Direction members are reevaluating their relationships after their bandmate passed away.
“[Liam’s death] was a wake-up call for all of them. Prior, they kept in touch sporadically but didn’t have close friendships at all,” the source told Us Weekly.
“They’re all still mourning but are checking in on each other and feel closer than they have in years. It brought them back together.”
The former One Direction bandmates reunited at the 31-year-old’s private funeral on November 20 in Amersham, north-west of London, where they were seen arriving separately. Their attendance came after the band released a joint statement paying tribute to their late friend.
“We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly,” the statement read.
“The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”
The funeral was also attended by the singer’s family, his girlfriend Kate Cassidy, his ex-partner Cheryl Tweedy and his son Bear, 7.
Liam Payne passed away on October 16 after falling from a third-story balcony of a Buenos Aries hotel.
Autopsy reports showed that Payne’s cause of death was due to the injuries sustained during the fall. However, it was also revealed that he had multiple drugs in his system at the time of his death, including pink cocaine.
Three people have reportedly been charged in relation to his death.
