Louis Tomlinson has addressed the rift between him and his former One Direction bandmate Zayn Malik, revealing he is still not over their fall out.
In 2015, Zayn sent One Direction fans into a frenzy when he announced he was leaving the band so he could be “a normal 22-year-old.” But just days later he was pictured in the recording studio with record producer Naughty Boy, something Louis did not take well.
The resulting argument between the former bandmates saw several insults and cheap digs thrown around on Twitter, until Zayn distanced himself from Naughty Boy and signed a major record deal less than two months later. Appearing on the Zach Sang Show on Wednesday, 30-year-old Louis was asked if he was still friends with Zayn following their very public spat.

He said: “You'd have to ask him. I could be wrong, but when you asked me a similar question before, I believe I said I don’t think I’m mature enough to get over what’s frustrated me in that relationship.
“I don't know if I’m mature enough now, but I’m definitely closer to being over all that.”
Louis went on to reveal he has thought about his former friend “numerous times” over the past couple of years and hopes Zayn is doing “alright.”
“I’ve tried to get in touch with him but it’s hard,” he added. “But I definitely wish him well.”
Although Zayn has been critical of his time in the boyband, he has recently shared several covers of One Direction songs on Instagram, some of which Louis has ‘liked’.
“I wasn’t just liking it for the sake of liking it,” Louis said. “It was a nice feeling ‘cause in the past, he’s said what he’s said about the band, and I understand some of what he was saying.
“But for me, in those videos, it showed he was reflecting. It showed he was thinking about those times.
“Of course, at the same time, showing off his incredible voice. But that's why it made me feel good ‘cause it was like, ‘Ah maybe you're thinking about good times in the band.’”
Louis said he feels the best and perhaps only chance for a reconciliation between the pair would be if they bumped into each other in person, adding that he no longer has Zayn’s phone number.
