One Direction fans have been sent into a frenzy after former member Liam Payne dropped a pretty big 'reunion' hint. During YouTuber-turned-boxer KSI's fight with Joe Fournier last week, Liam was interviewed from the ringside - and what he said has left fans hoping the boyband will be making a comeback.
In the Ringwalk Media interview, Liam was asked by Derek Chisora of Delicious TV: "When are we going to see the band back together?" Liam responds by saying: "I don’t know – but we just started a new group chat, so that’s something."
Turning to the camera, Derek Chisora then adds: "1D is back soon!" Although Liam didn't verbally deny it, he simply shrugged at the camera - but this was enough to thoroughly excite One Direction fans.
The interview was uploaded to Ringwalk Media's TikTok account, with the caption "Liam Payne confirms ALL the one direction band members are speaking about a comeback!" The video has now been view more than 2.6 million times, as hopeful fans flood the comment section.
Sophie asked: "WAIT THEYRE COMING BACK?!!" Lydia said: "I pray there’s a reunion." Brianna admitted: "I can’t handle this kind of thing right now."
User923304840 typed: "PLEASE MAKE A REUNION OR I WILL CRY." Coda added: "Is ZAYN in there is all I wanna know." CBA tagged a friend and wrote: "EXUSE ME WHAT."
Liz urged: "Plz don’t play with my emotions like that." Babygorl583 put: "Nah they need to stop because I’ve been clowned so many times about them getting back together."
Liam, along with Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, Harry Styles and Zayn Malik, rose to worldwide stardom more than a decade ago when they were put together as a boyband on ITV's X Factor.
One Direction's five albums, Up All Night (2011), Take Me Home (2012), Midnight Memories (2013), Four (2014), and Made in the A.M. (2015), topped charts in several countries during their time in the spotlight.

After several years of number one hits and global sold-out tours, they broke hearts when they eventually split up in 2015. The news came not long after Zayn quit the group in March that same year.
Following the break up, each member went on to carve out their own solo career, with Harry arguably becoming the most successful and currently sitting at number 16 'in the world' on Spotify.
