Authorities have confirmed that a tragic shooting incident took place at Antioch High School in Nashville, Tennessee. The incident resulted in one fatality and two individuals sustaining injuries from gunfire.
According to reports from Vanderbilt University Medical Center, one person has tragically lost their life as a result of the shooting. Two other individuals have been transported to the hospital to receive medical treatment for their injuries.
Antioch High School, which is home to approximately 2,000 students, is situated in a neighborhood about 10 miles southeast of downtown Nashville.
Law enforcement officials have indicated that the shooter is believed to have shot two students before turning the weapon on themself. However, it has not been confirmed whether the shooter was a student at the school.
Parents of students at Antioch High School have been advised not to go to the school to pick up their children. Instead, they have been instructed to proceed to a nearby hospital where the students will be transported as they are released by the authorities.
The FBI in Nashville has deferred all inquiries to the Metro Nashville Police Department, which is spearheading the investigation into the tragic incident. As of the latest update, the Nashville police have not requested the assistance of the FBI in their investigation.
This heartbreaking event comes in the wake of previous school shootings that have deeply impacted the Nashville community. In March 2023, a shooter claimed the lives of three 9-year-olds and three adults at a private Christian elementary school in the city, The Covenant School.
