On Sunday evening, a large gathering in Rochester, New York, turned into a scene of tragedy as shots were fired, resulting in one fatality and at least six injuries. The Rochester Police Department swiftly responded to the incident at Maplewood Park around 6:20 p.m. following reports of gunfire.
Upon arrival, law enforcement found multiple individuals had been shot. Captain Greg Bello of the Rochester Police Department confirmed that one person, identified as an adult in their 20s, had tragically lost their life. Additionally, six others sustained gunshot wounds, with at least one individual in critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
The injured victims were promptly taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. Various law enforcement agencies, including the Irondequoit Police, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Rochester Police, and New York State Police, collaborated in responding to the crime scene.
As the investigation unfolds, authorities are urging anyone who may have captured videos or photos of the incident to come forward and share them with the Major Crimes Unit or Crime Stoppers. It is emphasized that sharing such material on social media platforms should be avoided.
